Norwegian Encore – Nov. 2025, R&R Cruise

Life threw some tough challenges my way starting in 1999, when a serious illness turned everything upside down. Recovery was long and difficult, and living with disability brought changes I never could’ve imagined. But through it all, I’ve held onto my spirit, my sense of humor, and a deep appreciation for the people around me. I’ve come to believe that helping others is a very healing experience. Being available for people when they need someone has become a very meaningful part of my life. It’s been a very fulfilling service in return for all the help, kindness, and support I’ve received along my journey. These days, I find joy in simple things: connecting with others, good conversation, music, and the quiet satisfaction of still being here and still moving forward. Life hasn’t been easy, but I’ve come through it with gratitude, compassion, and a strong desire to keep contributing in the ways that I am capable of contributing. Thank you for taking the time to hear a little bit of my story.

Carnival Horizon – April 2026, ABC Cruise

Gabby is 26 years old. She has a rare gene mutation that was discovered around 5 years ago. It’s the RHOBTB2 gene mutation. It has many variants of this mutation. They are still discovering more variants all the time. Gabby was 1 of 10 in the US when she got diagnosed in April of 2022. Luckily, her variant doesn’t include the epilepsy part of this mutation. The doctors did suspect she had it, but thankfully, she doesn’t. She is a girl trapped in her own world. She is verbally impaired and cannot write or type on a computer. She is very picture-oriented and can communicate in her own way. Once you are around her, you will pick up on her cues to understand what she needs or wants. She loves music and is very loving and caring of others. We can’t wait to have a ton of fun on this cruise next April. We are all very thankful to be chosen to go! Gabby has never been on a plane or a cruise! Thank you, Helping Hands. We are grateful to you for being chosen! Thanks again! – Jon, Michelle, and Gabby
